Frequently Asked Questions

A doula is a non-medical professional who provides emotional support, advocacy, and education throughout your perinatal journey. Our primary goal is to empower you with knowledge, helping you feel confident in your birthing choices. We’ll be a steady presence in your birth space, offering recommendations for movement and pain coping strategies during labor. We will also help you plan and prepare for your postpartum period.
It’s important to clarify what we do not provide:
No medical interventions: We do not perform cervical checks or offer medical advice.
No direct communication with providers: While we advocate for you in the birth space, we do not communicate with your healthcare provider on your behalf before labor. Instead, we equip you with the tools to engage in healthy and meaningful conversations with your provider, ensuring that you are an active and vocal participant in your care.

The sooner you can start looking for a doula, the better! Finding someone who aligns with your birth philosophy and can support you in the ways you envision is crucial for a positive experience. At Ezer Birth, we recommend hiring a doula around the 20-week mark. This allows us, and you, the time to prepare properly for our first prenatal appointments, which typically begin after the 24-week gestation window. By starting your search early, you’ll have ample time to connect with potential doulas and ensure you find the perfect fit for your journey.

We require a 30% deposit upon booking to secure your due date in our calendar. The remaining 70% is due at 36 weeks of gestation. This structure helps us ensure that we’re fully prepared to support you as your due date approaches.

We understand that birth can be unpredictable, and we’re here to support you through every step of the journey. If you have an unplanned cesarean, full payment will still be retained. This is because we have already invested time in prenatal preparation and provided labor support leading up to the cesarean. Additionally, we will still offer our postpartum visit to ensure you have the support you need.
If a cesarean is planned later in your pregnancy for any reason, we will adjust the payment based on the services rendered up to that point. Our goal is to provide you with the support you need, regardless of how your birth unfolds.
